NSTCertified

When you buy your business computer from Northshore, you receive more than hardware. You receive an NSTCertified System.

NSTCertified is Northshore’s standard for business desktops, laptops, servers, and other equipment provided to our clients. We select, configure, and support these systems with the goal of keeping your people productive and your technology dependable.

An NSTCertified System is not simply a computer purchased from a catalog. It is equipment selected for your business, prepared for its intended environment, and supported by a team that understands how your technology needs to work.

What “Certified” Means

When Northshore certifies a system, we are saying that the equipment has been selected or evaluated for practical business use. It must be appropriate for the user, workload, environment, security requirements, expected service life, and support needs of the organization.

Certification means the system is intended to remain a viable business asset—not just on the day it is purchased, but throughout its supported service life. Northshore can continue evaluating the system as its needs change and determine whether it should be maintained, upgraded, repaired, replaced, or retired.

Certified does not mean that hardware can never fail. It means Northshore has accepted responsibility for selecting and supporting equipment that is appropriate, supportable, and capable of serving the business when properly maintained.

What “NST” Means

The “NST” in NSTCertified represents the Northshore service behind the system.

It represents more than the device itself. It represents the preparation, support, judgment, flexibility, and service process Northshore provides to help keep your people productive and your core business functions working.

Certified tells you the system is viable. NST tells you who stands behind it.

Service Benefits Built In

NSTCertified combines business-ready hardware with Northshore service benefits designed to reduce disruption and make technology easier to operate.

  • Business-appropriate selection: Hardware is chosen for the user, applications, workload, environment, and expected service life.
  • Northshore preparation: Systems can be configured with required applications, security tools, policies, network access, backup considerations, and user standards.
  • Known support standards: Northshore understands what the system is intended to do and how it fits into the client’s broader technology environment.
  • Lifecycle guidance: Northshore can help determine whether equipment should be maintained, upgraded, repaired, replaced, or retired.
  • Support beyond the original manufacturer warranty: Dependable laptops and desktops may remain viable and supportable after the original Dell, Lenovo, HP, Toshiba, or other vendor warranty has ended.
  • Flexible service response: Northshore can adapt the response to the situation instead of relying only on a fixed manufacturer warranty process.
  • Advanced replacement when appropriate: If a certified system fails and requires repair, Northshore may provide a replacement system to help keep the client productive while the original equipment is evaluated or repaired.

Productivity Over Scheduled Replacements

NSTCertified is designed for organizations that value uninterrupted productivity over replacing equipment according to an arbitrary schedule.

When you purchase a system from Northshore, we aim to provide equipment that remains dependable and supportable for as long as it makes practical business sense. If a system can continue serving the user reliably, replacement should not be required simply because it has reached a certain age or because the original manufacturer’s warranty has ended.

When a system no longer meets the needs of the business, Northshore can help determine whether it should be upgraded, repaired, replaced, or retired.

Hardware Selected for Your Business

Northshore does not treat every business computer as interchangeable. We consider the user, applications, workload, environment, security requirements, expected service life, and practical support needs before recommending equipment.

The result is a system selected for how your organization actually works—not simply the newest, most expensive, or most heavily advertised option.

Extending the Life of Solid Equipment

A dependable business laptop or desktop can often remain useful beyond the original warranty period provided by Dell, Lenovo, HP, Toshiba, or another manufacturer. NSTCertified helps Northshore continue supporting capable equipment when it remains reliable, secure, and appropriate for the user’s work.

Northshore can evaluate an NSTCertified System and recommend practical improvements such as additional memory, storage replacement, maintenance, configuration changes, or other service work. These improvements may help restore performance and extend the system’s productive service life without requiring premature replacement.

The objective is not to keep unsuitable equipment in service. It is to avoid replacing dependable equipment before replacement is actually necessary.

More Practical Hardware Investment

RAM and solid-state storage costs can make large equipment refreshes more expensive than expected. NSTCertified helps clients make more practical hardware decisions by matching the system to the actual workload and avoiding unnecessary capacity or specifications.

Instead of replacing every computer on a fixed schedule, Northshore can help identify which systems should remain in service, which may benefit from a targeted upgrade, and which should be replaced because they no longer provide dependable business value.

Additional Storage with NSTFileGuard

If local storage becomes a limitation, NSTFileGuard can be added to provide seamless access to appropriate business files through supported cloud storage.

This can reduce the amount of data that must remain on the computer’s internal drive and help extend the useful life of an NSTCertified System that is otherwise dependable. It also gives the business a practical way to access supported files from the cloud as part of its broader technology environment.

Three-Year Northshore Warranty

NSTCertified Systems provided by Northshore include a three-year Northshore warranty with parts and labor coverage, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.

This gives you a clear support path through Northshore rather than requiring you to manage the hardware manufacturer’s warranty process on your own.

Advanced Replacement When It Makes Sense

When Northshore certifies and provides a system, we stand behind more than the original manufacturer’s warranty process. If the system fails during its Northshore warranty period and requires repair, Northshore can provide an advance replacement when doing so is the most practical way to keep the client productive.

The replacement system allows the user to continue working while Northshore determines whether the original system should be repaired. Depending on the circumstances, Northshore may leave the replacement system in service or return the repaired original system to the client.

This approach gives Northshore the flexibility to focus on restoring the client’s core functionality instead of making the client wait through a traditional repair or manufacturer warranty process.

Built Around Your Environment

For NSTManaged customers, NSTCertified Systems are selected, configured, and supported as part of the client’s specific technology environment.

This creates a more consistent experience across the organization and allows Northshore to align hardware decisions with the client’s users, applications, security standards, network, backup strategy, and long-term operational needs.

Existing Equipment May Also Be Eligible

NSTCertified is included with qualifying desktops, laptops, servers, and other systems provided by Northshore. In some situations, Northshore may also evaluate client-owned equipment for certification.

Client-owned equipment must meet Northshore’s requirements for condition, reliability, performance, security, compatibility, and supportability before it can be accepted as an NSTCertified System. Certification is not automatic and is determined by Northshore after evaluation.

That’s the NST in NSTCertified

Certified means the system is selected or evaluated to remain a viable business asset. NST means Northshore stands behind it with exceptional service.

We use a defined process to select, prepare, support, and maintain NSTCertified Systems. At the same time, we remain flexible when a client’s circumstances require a practical solution that falls outside a standard hardware process.

Our goal is simple: support the quality of our clients’ lives, protect their core functionality, and help their people remain productive.
